Did anybody watch jeopardy lately with the computer that is playing the game with other players? the computer has specifically been built to understand the jeopardy questions and is actually able to give answers. Does anybody think this type of computer has a future for us? My job went because of voice recognition taking over medical transcription; if I could have talked to my computer and it could have put in the editing I needed, I could have worked for a few more years, although I have already worked 38 and a half years. I read on here dragon speak does not work with jaws which is correct. Anyway, is this computer jeopardy is using being modified by IBM for a consumer's use in the home?

I haven't heard anything that specific but I wouldn't rule it out just yet. And yes, I've been watching it these last few days and it's been absolutely fascinating. And the voice sounds very similar to, though not as deep as the Alex voice often found as the default Voiceover voice on Mac computers. I'm definitely interested to see where this goes. And as forMedical Transcription I too looked into that as a career option but due to the fact that people are using dictation software I wasn't able to get funding for training.

The final show will be tonight, and I have a feeling the computer will continue to beat the two humans. Although the computer's answer to the final Jeopardy question last night was so far off the mark it was laughable.

I remember that. And the coputer did win. Although I did talk to my career counselor this morning and she said she didn't like it because Watson rang in before anyone else could. By that logic you may as well not like Jeopardy period since that does happen with only human contestants sometimes.
